Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings
Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings is the former Kellner Family Distinguished Professor of Urban Education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. An esteemed scholar, she is a Fellow of the British Academy, the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and the Hagler Institute at Texas A&M.
She served as President of the American Educational Research Association (2005–2006) and has made lasting contributions to Critical Race Theory in education. Her groundbreaking books The Dreamkeepers and Crossing Over to Canaan are widely cited in teacher education.
Dr. Ladson-Billings was a fellow at Stanford’s Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences and has received numerous honors, including the AERA Distinguished Research Award (2018), the Spindler Award for Educational Anthropology, and honorary degrees from universities around the globe.
