Kim Sponem has served as CEO/President of Summit Credit Union since 2002, leading its growth from $200 million to over $7.6 billion in assets with nearly 270,000 members. An advocate for equity and innovation, she spearheaded Summit’s Equity in Money initiative and expanded access to financial services across Wisconsin.

Under her leadership, Summit has become Wisconsin’s top mortgage lender and SBA loan provider among credit unions, and it has received numerous awards, including Forbes’ and Newsweek’s best-in-state designations. Sponem has also been recognized with the Wisconsin Credit Union League Foundation’s Legend of the Movement Award and Cornerstone Advisors’ GonzoBanker of the Year.

An MBA graduate from Edgewood College and B.S. alumna of UW–Madison, Sponem serves on numerous boards, including Society Insurance, WPS Corporation, and United Way of Dane County (2025 Campaign Chair). She is a national leader in ethical finance, committed to community uplift, Black-led initiatives, and board diversity.
